Rajasthan’s Role in the Freedom Struggle of India

The present-day Rajasthan was formed on 30th March 1949, when 19 Princely States and 3 Chiefdoms collectively known as ‘Rajputana’ were merged after the independence of India.

Rajasthan had numerous small and large kingdoms, over centuries but the first Gallery begins its narrative from the 18th century. It was the time when the British East India Company was strengthening its roots in Rajputana in the name of solving quarrels between these local kingdoms. Through artistic murals and graphic panels, this gallery showcases Rajasthan’s role in the freedom struggle in response to the British atrocities on these lands.
